Viral oil and gas scholarship briefing false, Bintulu Port warns public against misinformation

KUCHING, June 13: Bintulu Port has denied any involvement in a briefing and interview session related to the so-called “Special Maritime Oil and Gas Scholarship for Sarawakian Youths,” which was allegedly held at its premises today.

In a statement posted on its social media, the Corporate Communication Department of Bintulu Port Holdings Berhad (BPHB) clarified that the company had never issued any promotional materials related to the programme.

“It has come to our attention that a poster regarding the Biasiswa Industri Maritim Oil & Gas Khas Kepada Anak Sarawak, allegedly taking place at Bintulu Port today (June 13, 2025), has been widely circulated.

“We wish to clarify that the poster was not issued by the Capability Development Department, Group Human Capital (GHC), or any official unit under BPHB. This initiative is not related in any way to BPHB or any of its subsidiaries,” the statement read.

The company strongly urged the public to remain vigilant and to verify the authenticity of any information that uses the name or premises of Bintulu Port.

BPHB also reiterated that all official announcements will only be made through its authorised communication channels.

This follows a social media post claiming that a scholarship briefing would take place at Bintulu Port at 8am went viral, leading to public confusion. — DayakDaily
