KUCHING, June 13: ‘Give us a chance’—this was said by Bintulu MP Dato Seri Tiong King Sing in acknowledging that several projects in rural areas remain unfinished.

However, he assured that efforts would continue in stages with cooperation from all parties.

“I know there are shortcomings and some delays. But give us a chance. If there are issues, contact me directly,” he said in a Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS) report.

He said this during a ‘Segulai Sejalai Ngiling Bidai 2025’ dinner ceremony in Bintulu on Thursday (June 12).

Meanwhile, touching on the programme, he said that Gawai Dayak is more than an annual ritual as it serves as an opportunity to strengthen Malaysia Madani values, particularly in empowering the local economy and fostering solidarity between urban and rural communities.

“We want the people to keep valuing our cultural heritage, live in harmony, and protect the unity that serves as the cornerstone of our state and nation’s strength,” he said.

At the same time, Tiong, who is also the assemblyman for Dudong and federal Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, called on the people to be discerning when evaluating issues before sharing or speculating.

“There’s a lot of misinformation these days. Don’t let emotions or sentiments sway you. We must reason for the common good,” he stressed.

Deputy Minister of Transport Dato Henry Harry Jinep, Meluan assemblyman Rolland Duat Jubin, and Krian assemblyman Friday Belik were also present. — DayakDaily
