KUCHING, March 15: Only education can change our way of life, and our fortunes says Satok assemblyman Dato Ibrahim Baki.

He said without education, the rich can become poor, but with education, the poor can become rich, and the rich become richer as the educated rich can manage their wealth to live a comfortable life.

“Some people said that wealth can be found, but at the same time, it can be lost. But if a person is educated and has an educated mind, no one can take it away from them. This is because once you are educated, it is for life,” he said.

“It is because of education, we have many in our community who are successful in their profession, in academics, in private and public sectors, in business, and some have become prominent leaders in our community,” he said before giving away school bags to 100 school children at ‘Program Penyerahan Bantuan Beg Sekolah’ Back-to-School Kampung Segedup 2023 in Batu Kawah today.

The programme was organised by Kelab Sukan Kommuniti Satok (KSKS).

“Parent are to remind young people and especially children who want to learn, that these days we live in the era of globalisation and information technology.

“There are many agents of change and we must focus on the teaching of science, technology engineering and mathematics (STEM), especially science and mathematics as there have more advantages due to its many branches,” he opined.

“These days we all use technology and parents are to prepare and lend support to their children so that they are well versed in this field. And not to forget, we must master the English language,“ Ibrahim told those present.

“We will hope in the future, that because of education, our children will become good people, successful in life, helping themselves, their families, and help Sarawak to progress,” he said.

Also present was the political secretary in the prime minister’s department and the president of KSKS Irwan Zulkarnain Muhammad Hasbi. — DayakDaily
