Upgrades costing RM693k on two facilities at Semuja Immigration Detention Depot completed

SERIAN, June 22: Upgrades on the officer’s mess and a quarantine centre costing a total of RM693,000 at the Semuja Immigration Detention Depot here have been completed.

Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas who is the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee chairman today visited the centre to witness the handing over of the facilities.

Serian Division Public Works Department (JKR) engineer Oliver Ngabong handed over a document certifying the completion to Sarawak Immigration director Datu Ken Leben.

Uggah later toured the quarantine cabin which can accommodate up to 20 persons in each of its six compartments.

Among those accompanying Uggah during his visit were Minister for Local Government and Housing Dato Sri Dr Sim Kui Hian and Serian MP Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem. — DayakDaily
