BETONG, Feb 11: Two boys died in a drowning incident near Rh Batu Lintang, Jalan Layar, here today.
The deceased are Norman Syakimie Suria Ariffin, 16, and Afiq Aiman Mohd Adress, 17.
According to a report by the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba), they received the distress call on the incident at 3.53pm today before deploying a team of firefighters led by Abang Jamadilhir Abang Mostafa to the scene.
The chronology of the event stated that the two boys were swimming in the river with their friends before both were swept by strong currents.
Norman was rescued earlier but he was found in an unconscious state while Afiq’s body was found around 7pm.
Both victims were pronounced dead by Health officers before their bodies were handed over to the police for further action. — DayakDaily
