KUCHING, May 29: The unauthorised use of another individual’s MyKad number or personal information to obtain BUDI95 subsidy benefits is punishable with a fine of up to RM20,000, imprisonment of up to three years, or both.

In a statement, the Ministry of Finance (MOF) said several recent complaints have surfaced over the alleged misuse of MyKad details for transactions linked to the BUDI95 programme.

In this regard, MOF issued a stern warning against the unauthorised use of another individual’s MyKad number or personal information to obtain BUDI95 subsidy benefits.

At the same time, the ministry has instructed fuel retail companies to tighten compliance with the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for MyKad verification in every BUDI95 transaction.

“Any manual transaction carried out without first physically verifying the MyKad is strictly prohibited, as it creates opportunities for unauthorised transactions, subsidy abuse and breaches of the programme’s integrity,” it said.

MOF has also directed fuel retailers to investigate transactions found to be in violation of the SOPs, take appropriate action against the petrol stations involved, and strengthen internal monitoring to ensure continued compliance across all service stations.

Corrective measures have also been introduced, including refresher training for frontline staff, the display of SOPs at payment counters, and appropriate reimbursement or compensation for affected customers, subject to the outcome of investigations.

Fuel retail companies have also been instructed to contact affected MyKad holders to discuss the matter further.

MOF said it will continue monitoring BUDI95 transaction patterns at petrol stations nationwide and will not compromise on any SOP violations or abuse of the targeted subsidy programme.

“BUDI95 recipients are encouraged to review their transaction records through the BUDI95 portal and immediately lodge a police report if they detect any unauthorised transactions,” said the ministry.

Recipients affected by unauthorised transactions may submit complaints within 30 days of the incident to the BUDI MADANI Contact Centre (BMCC) by providing the following documents:

  • A police report stating the date, time and details of the petrol station involved
  • A copy of their MyKad
  • A list of the transactions cited in the police report

Complaints can be submitted to BMCC, which operates 24 hours a day, via phone call at 1300-88-9595, WhatsApp (+603-2631 4595) or through email at tanya@budi95.gov.my.

MOF also urged the public to remain vigilant and refrain from sharing MyKad information with any party for subsidy-related transactions. — DayakDaily
