Unplugged: Sibu police detain 19 at illegal entertainment centre


SIBU, Dec 9: Police swooped down on an illegal entertainment centre at Jalan Lau King Howe and arrested 19 individuals on Dec 7.

According to acting Sibu district police chief, Supt Collin Babat at about 12.15am, a police team raided a three-storey shophouse.

“The first floor of the premises has been converted into an entertainment centre which is equipped with a karaoke set, tables, neon light and liquor,” he said.


Collin added that the police found a group of people entertaining themselves with loud music and singing.

A staff of the centre was arrested after he failed to produce an operating licence from the Sibu Municipal Council, a requirement under Section 5 (1) of the Entertainment Ordinance 2000.

Eighteen customers aged between 17 to 42 were also detained for further action. — DayakDaily
