Unimas holds ‘Culturisation of Knowledge Seminar 2019’

KOTA SAMARAHAN, March 4: Seventy students from institutions of higher learning in Kota Samarahan and Kuching attended the ‘Culturisation of Knowledge Seminar 2019’ at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) recently.

The programme was carried out in collaboration with the Unimas Sustainable Centre (USC) and the Sarawak Islamic Council’s Education and Service Bureau.

It was officiated at by its deputy vice-chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni) Profesor Datu Mohd Fadzil Abd Rahman.


In his speech Mohd Fadzil emphasised the importance of acquiring and mastering all knowledge.

“Students must not only strive to master all knowledge but must be able to understand it at the same time. They must be responsible enough to turn knowledge into a culture,” he said in a press release today.

Two local speakers were invited to give lectures at the seminar. They are Sarawak Islamic Council’s Education and Service Bureau director Datu Dr Adi Badiozaman Tuah, who talked about ‘A partnership through community-based education’ and Syahrul Nizam Junaini from the Centre of Applied Learning in Multimedia (CALM), Unimas, who touched on ‘Application of Al-Quran in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

Apart from the seminar, there was also an exhibition led by Centre for Academic Information and Services (CAIS), Unimas, where various reading materials were exhibited.

During the exhibition, there was a membership recruitment drive on facilities offered by CAIS.
