Unemploymed man fined for trespassing in Miri

MIRI, April 24: A 24-year-old jobless man was fined RM800 in default one month’s jail by the Magistrate’s Court here yesterday for trespassing into a house in Jalan Pujut.

Magistrate Kasyfurrahman Abang Ahmad meted out the sentence on Jefri Jess Kudi Geruna of Pujut Corner after he pleaded guilty to criminal trespassing into Lot 1962, Jalan Pujut on Nov 9 last year at around 11.55am.

He was charged under Section 447 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of six months or a fine of up to RM3,500 or both upon conviction.

During mitigation, Jefri, who was unrepresented, appealed for a light sentence.
