KUCHING, April 9: Accurate information is essential for fostering a clear understanding of government policies and increasing public involvement in regional development, said Sarawak Public Communication Unit (Ukas) director Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan.
Addressing UKAS Berambeh Raya 2025 celebration held at the English Tea House today, Awang Putrayusrie emphasised the importance of creating two-way communication channels that foster closer cooperation, particularly when disseminating information about Sarawak government policies and initiatives.
“In today’s digital age, effective communication goes beyond speed and accuracy; it’s about delivering messages in a way that’s easy to understand for everyone, regardless of background.
“We must always take the lead in delivering correct, accurate, and relevant information to the public,” he said.
Awang Putrayusrie urged media professionals, public relations officers, and its strategic partners to continue adapting to rapid technological changes and trends in social media, expanding their reach to ensure the accurate dissemination of information.
“Social media plays a crucial role in this—it’s not just a tool for spreading information, but also a platform for dialogue between the government and the people,” he said.
He highlighted that the gathering was not only a celebration of Aidilfitri but also an important opportunity to strengthen the relationship between Ukas, media professionals, public relations officers, and strategic partners.
“Events like this create a relaxed and open environment, allowing for better communication and a deeper understanding of Ukas’s role, as well as the media’s responsibility in delivering accurate, timely information to the public.
“With a more informal setting like today, I hope we can further enhance the relationship between the Sarawak government, media partners, and Ukas, ensuring that our collaboration remains effective and beneficial to the community,” he added.
Awang Putrayusrie expressed appreciation for the strong collaboration Ukas has built with the media over the years.
“The contributions and commitment of all parties, including social media users who have helped communicate government initiatives, are deeply valued. This continued strategic cooperation is key to improving the quality and competitiveness of our communications,” he concluded.
