KUCHING, July 25: Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Sarawak student Muhammad Abal Hakim Abal Mukam is representing Malaysia at Certiport’s Adobe Certified Professional World Championship 2023 in Orlando, Florida, United States of America from July 28 to August 3.
The 19-year-old Sabahan said he was selected after winning second place and Best People’s Choice Award at CCC’s Adobe Certified Professional Malaysia National Championship 2023 on June 1 earlier this year.
“The upcoming championship is my first international event ever and it is going to be similar to the national championship but this time, I will be competing with participants from all over the world.
“During the championship, competitors will be given a task to use their design skills and create a project according to the client’s requirement,” he told reporters at Kuching International Airport (KIA) here today.
Abal had also received sponsorship of RM20,000 from the Sabah government for his participation in the championship.
He is currently in his second semester of his diploma studies at Faculty of Arts and Design, UiTM Sarawak.
The third of four siblings thanked his lecturers for their guidance and assistance in preparing him for the competition.
Abal also revealed he has been making art since his childhood years where his father, who is a Form 6 arts lecturer, used to bring him to join art competitions in Sabah.
Today, he has created many illustrations of his own.
“I hope to be able to experience new things in my life and joining the competition is the biggest leap I have ever taken. I hope to make Malaysia and UiTM known to the world,” he added.
Also present at KIA were Dr Asmah Alia Mohd Bahari, head of Centre of Studies, Art & Design, Architecture, Planning & Surveying, and Clement Jimel, programme coordinator for Graphic Design and Digital Media. — DayakDaily
