KUCHING, July 25:  The Magistrate’s Court here sentenced a man and his father-in-law to a six-month good behaviour bond and a bail of RM500 each for their domestic quarrels yesterday.

Both the plaintiff by the family name Diong, 42, and the defendant who is his father-in-law Ngu, 56, pleaded guilty to the charges under Section 67 of the Criminal Procedure Code before Magistrate Syarifah Fatimah Azura Wan Ali.

The incident occurred at Diong’s residence at Lorong Stutong on July 9, 2023 at about 11.15pm.

According to the facts of the case, Diong had a disagreement with his wife, who subsequently contacted her father, Ngu.

Upon receiving the phone call, Ngu arrived at the premises and immediately assaulted Diong, causing injuries to his left eye and bruises on his body.

Following the altercation, Diong lodged a police report, leading to Ngu’s arrest on July 11.

Investigation revealed that the incident stemmed from Ngu’s dissatisfaction with Diong, primarily over financial matters concerning his daughter (Diong’s wife).

Allegedly, Ngu frequently berated Diong, calling him worthless and using other derogatory words.

This was not the first instance of such an altercation, as similar incidents had occurred three times before.

Prosecution was led by Inspector Nur Syafiqa Nyaie Ilin, while Ngu and Diong were not represented by legal counsel. — DayakDaily.
