KUCHING, June 8: Employees who have obtained police permits and approval letters earlier from their employers in the State can still use them at police roadblocks.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas stressed that these permits and approval letters are still valid when passing through roadblocks, adding that there is no need to obtain new ones.

He said there had been public queries as to the validity of such documents obtained earlier on.

“I have spoken to the State Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail and he has agreed with our decision,” Uggah said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, Sarawak is currently under the Movement Control Order (MCO) until June 14.

Economic sectors which are allowed to operate during the MCO are listed in the standard operating procedures (SOPs) dated May 29 which was updated on May 31.

Uggah who is also the Deputy Chief Minister reiterated to the public on the need to stay at home unless they have very compelling reasons to go out.

He said by staying at home, they would help to curb the spread of Covid-19 within the community. — DayakDaily
