KUCHING, Oct 24: Party grassroots members are the backbone of Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB), providing the strength that keeps the party firmly rooted, says PBB deputy president Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

In a news report by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), Uggah, who is also Sarawak Deputy Premier, emphasised that the party’s victories in every election are the result of the hard work and dedication of loyal party members who fight alongside PBB.

“We must continue to empower this party. Our struggle is not solely about winning elections, but also about using politics as a platform to bring benefits and positive change to the community,” he said during the PBB N37 Bukit Saban branch triennial general meeting for the 2024–2027 term on Sunday (Oct 20).

Uggah added that to enhance economic activities through the Betong Division Development Agency (BDDA), Bukit Saban has been allocated RM60 million.

These funds will be directed towards agricultural activities, such as cultivating oil palm, pepper, rubber, vegetables, fruits, and livestock including chickens, pigs, ducks, swiftlets, quail, and more.

“We already have a list of applications, which will be finalised by December. The programme will benefit one household per approved project, and we hope to begin implementation early next year,” Uggah explained.

The triennial general meeting will continue across 10 other branches, with meetings for four branches—Kampung Hulu Spaoh, Kampung Penggan Spaoh, Kampung Tengah Spaoh, and Kampung Hilir Spaoh—having concluded on Oct 5 and Oct 6.

To date, 14 of the 17 sub-branches under the PBB N37 Bukit Saban Branch have completed their meetings, with the remaining three scheduled for Oct 27, 2024. — DayakDaily
