KUCHING, April 15: SDMC confirmed that the CMCO will be maintained for the five districts of Kuching, Miri, Meradong, Bintulu and Sibu, and not the MCO.
Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas made the announcement at a press conference today that the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO) will still run from April 13 to 26.
Yesterday, graphics uploaded online by the National Security Council showed that the five Sarawak districts of Kuching, Miri, Meradong, Bintulu and Sibu will be placed under Movement Control Order (MCO) from April 16 to 29 had gone viral.
It created panic among Sarawakians especially among the residents in the five districts including business owners whose main concern was the temporary closure of their businesses for two weeks should the MCO be enforced.
“That (the misunderstanding between federal and Sarawak governments) happened. That was why we informed the public that we will make clarification today.
“We have done the clarification. We hope we can avoid such a misunderstanding later on (in the future),” said Uggah. — DayakDaily
