TYT Wan Junaidi officiates at his first DUS sitting today

KUCHING, May 6: Sarawak’s Head of State (TYT) Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar officiates at his first official Sarawak Legislative Assembly (DUS) sitting today.

Wan Junaidi and his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi arrived to attend the opening ceremony of the third term of the 19th DUN located at the parade ground of the DUN complex here around 9.35am.


The ceremony began with a performance of the Sarawak anthem “Ibu Pertiwiku” played by a 40-member Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) band led by band director Inspector Frankie Billy and later followed by a prayer recital.

Wan Junaidi then inspected the Guard-of-Honour which consisted of 105 police personn led by DSP Jiffry Ardin with Inspector James Rodney as the ensign officer.

The ceremony progressed with the Malaysian national anthem “Negaraku” and the Sarawak anthem “Ibu Pertiwiku”.

The dignitaries then received the Royal Salute from the Guard-of-Honour.

Wan Junaidi headed to the DUN chambers to deliver his opening address for the DUN sitting.

Among those present were Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and his wife Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tun Tuanku Bujang, DUN Speaker Tan Sri Datuk Amar Mohd Asfia Awang Nassar and his wife Datin Amar Dato Fatimah Mohamad Iskandar.

The DUN sitting will see five bills tabled, namely the Sarawak Ports Authority Bill, Supplementary Supply (2023) Bill, Supplementary Supply (2024) Bill, Protection of Public Health (Amendment) Bill, and Sarawak Forestry Corporation (Amendment) Bill. — DayakDaily
