Sarawak Governor commends Mutang’s dedication in continuing Dewan Rakyat initiatives

KUCHING, May 11: Former Senate president, the late Datuk Mutang Tagal, has demonstrated the commitment to continuing initiatives that were set by his predecessor, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar, who is currently the Sarawak Governor.

According to a press statement by Astana Negeri Sarawak, Wan Junaidi acknowledged the qualifications of the late Mutang following the latter’s appointment as the Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat back on February 19

“The late Mutang showed the commitment to continue the initiatives set by Wan Junaidi during his tenure as the previous speaker of the Dewan Rakyat, such as re-introducing the Parliamentary Services Act as well as other initiatives that will further dignify the Malaysian Parliament as a body Legislation as enshrined in the Federal Constitution,” read the press statement.

Wan Junaidi, along with his wife Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi, paid their final respects to the late Mutang at Nirvana Centre, Kuala Lumpur, today. They were greeted by late Mutang’s wife, Datin Ho May Leng, and their children.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim also arrived at the memorial service accompanied by his entourage sometime around noon.

The final tribute ceremony for the late Mutang was held at Nirvana Centre Kuala Lumpur from 10am to 2pm today, whereas on Sunday (May 12), another tribute ceremony will be held at Borneo Evangelical Mission (BEM) Airport Road Church, Miri, at 10am.

A memorial service will be held on Monday (May 13) at BEM Canada Hill Church, Miri, starting at 9am, with the burial arrangements taking place at Sidang Injil Borneo (SIB) Cemetery, Lambir. — DayakDaily
