SIBU, Oct 17: Two wooden houses were destroyed in a fire at Jalan Kapor Bukit 5 here as firefighters faced considerable challenges due to the absence of a nearby fire hydrant.
Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak responded to an emergency call at 2.42am today and swiftly deployed a team of firefighters from the Sibu Central Station.
Upon arrival, the operation commander was compelled to request assistance from the Sungai Merah Station due to a lack of available water resources as there was no fire hydrant at the location.
In an effort to prevent the fire from spreading to a third house, the firefighters swiftly employed a firebreak.
Subsequent to the successful containment of the blaze, the firefighters undertook a meticulous overhauling process to ensure the elimination of any potential sources of ignition.
