KUCHING, Aug 5: Two 18-year-old girls perished in a road accident when their motorcycle collided with a car along Mile 13 Jalan Kuching-Serian on Friday night (Aug 4).
Padawan district police chief Superintendent Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said police received information about the accident at 9.14pm.
“The accident happened when the teenagers crossed the road divider and entered the lane towards Serian, resulting in them being knocked by a car from behind.
“Due to the impact (from the car), the rider (of the motorcycle) landed on the road divider while her pillion rider landed on the road,” he said in a statement today.
He added that both teenagers were confirmed dead when paramedics from Sarawak General Hospital arrived at the scene of the accident.
The car’s driver was unharmed.
The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. — DayakDaily
