MIRI, Dec 29: Two units of a two-storey RPR flat at Bandar Baru Permyjaya Tudan in Jalan Dato Permaisuri 2 here were destroyed after a fire broke out in the upper floor of one of the homes today.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak responded to the emergency at 5.07pm and firefighters from Lutong Station, with assistance from Lopeng Station were immediately mobilised.
The first flat unit was unoccupied at the time of the incident, while the second unit, where a family of four resided, was completely destroyed.
Additionally, the flames extended to the third unit, causing 30 per cent damage to the roofing.
Fortunately, all residents were able to evacuate to a safe location, and there were no reported injuries.
The cause of the fire and extent of the loss are still being investigated. — DayakDaily
