KANOWIT, Dec 29: A 51-year-old man was killed when his sedan car collided with a 4WD vehicle, ultimately crashing into a ditch near Sungai Poi Bridge in Kanowit.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Sarawak reported that a team of firefighters from the Kanowit Station responded to the emergency at 5.42pm.
Upon reaching the scene, firefighters confirmed the accident involved two vehicles — a Mitsubishi Triton and a Proton Ertiga.
The immediate focus was on retrieving the driver of the Proton, who was not trapped in the seat.
Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead by on-site paramedics.
The deceased’s body was handed over to the police for further action.
The 48-year-old driver of the Mitsubishi pickup truck only sustained injuries to his knee.
Firefighters ensured the safety of the site before concluding their operation. — DayakDaily
