Firms fined for failing to pay late Socso payment

KUCHING, Oct 22: The Magistrate’s Court here sentenced a construction company owner to a fine of RM4,000 for failing to pay late payment of contribution to the Social Security Organisation (Socso).

The construction company owner was charged under Section 14A of the Employees’ Social Security Act 1969 (Section 4) and Rule 33 of the Social Security (General) Regulations 1971.


The said company failed to pay late payment of contribution to Socso amounting to RM3,780 for the period of July 2014 to June 2017.

Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi sentenced the construction company owner to a fine of RM4,000 or in default four months’ imprisonment.

In an unrelated case, a luxury car business was also sentenced to a fine of RM3,000 or in default to three months’ imprisonment as the company had failed to pay late payment of contribution to Soco.

The luxury car business company had failed to pay late payment of contribution amounting RM695 after a discount of 80 per cent.

DPP Masroeni Jaraie represented Socso while both accused were unrepresented by counsel. — DayakDaily
