KUCHING, Sept 2: A total of 60 people have tested positive for Covid-19, creating two new clusters in Bintulu.
The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement today, said the first cluster is a workplace cluster dubbed the Jalan Bintulu-Bakun Cluster, involving palm oil plantation workers along Jalan Bintulu-Bakun. The premises has been placed under an Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO).
Out of 20 individuals screened so far, 19 of them were found positive, including the index case, while one individual is awaiting test results. Eighteen new cases were reported today.
Meanwhile, the committee said the second cluster detected in Bintulu dubbed the Galaxy Cluster is also a workplace cluster, involving a supply vessel’s workers and crew.
It said from the total of 166 individuals screened, 41 of them, including the index case, were found positive for Covid-19, while 125 other individuals are still awaiting laboratory test results.
The committee added all of the positive individuals from both clusters were brought to Bintulu Hospital and the Covid-19 low-risk treatment and quarantine centres (PKRC) in the district. – DayakDaily.
