92 infected as 3 new Covid-19 clusters break out in Kuching

KUCHING, Sept 2: The emergence of three new Covid-19 clusters involving two factories and one village in Kuching was disclosed today, with the clusters registering a total of 92 confirmed cases so far.

According to reports by the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today, the three clusters have been dubbed the Kampung Dangak, Jalan Usaha Jaya Dua, and Industri Jalan Semeba Clusters respectively.

The Kampung Dangak Cluster which has 19 cases to date, was traced to Kampung Dangak at Jalan Stephen Yong.

As for the Jalan Usaha Jaya Dua Cluster, the 41 individuals confirmed positive so far comprise employees and residents of an electronics factory at Zon Perindustrian Bebas Sama Jaya.

The Industri Jalan Semeba Cluster, on the other hand, which is centred on a factory at Jalan Semeba, has seen 32 workers infected so far.

For all three new clusters, there were zero negative cases among those screened, and none awaiting lab test results as of today.

SDMC said all patients were admitted into Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), Kuching Covid-19 Assessment Centre (CAC) and the Low-risk Treatment and Quarantine Centre (PKRC).

Meanwhile, there were five other newly declared clusters in Sarawak announced today, with two in Bintulu, and one each in Sri Aman, Serian and Subis.

Following the expiration the Benteng Sri Aman in Sri Aman and Kampung Semban Cluster in Kuching today, there are 137 active clusters left in the State. — DayakDaily
