Two new Covid-19 clusters have emerged

KUCHING, Oct 2: Two new Covid-19 clusters namely Seri Anggerik Cluster and Seri Setia Cluster in Selangor were announced by Health Director-General Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, today.

He said the index patients were both returnees from Sabah, the hot spot of Covid-19.

“The Seri Anggerik cluster in Hulu Selangor started from a 37-year-old Malaysian man who was in Sabah from Sept 9 to 18. He started showing symptoms on Sept 25 and confirmed positive on Sept 27. Currently, this cluster has recorded 14 positive cases and 38 pending laboratory results,” Dr Noor Hisham disclosed in a press conference.


As for the Seri Setia cluster, he said it started from a 36-year-old Malaysian man who was in Semporna, Sabah from September 16 to 20.

The case was tested positive on Sept 25.

“Subsequently, close contact screening was conducted and three more positive Covid-19 cases for this cluster were identified. All these positive cases involve Malaysian citizens. As of October 2, a total of 23 individuals have been screened. This cluster now recorded four positive cases,” he added.

Malaysia recorded another surge of new Covid-19 infections with 287 cases today. —DayakDaily
