KANOWIT, Oct 29: Two men, aged 50 and 69, were killed in a tragic road accident involving a Perodua Axia and an oil tanker along Jalan Majau near SK Ulu Majau this afternoon.
The Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Kanowit station received a distress call regarding the incident at 12.32pm.
Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters confirmed that a Perodua Axia had collided with a tanker lorry carrying oil.
Both male victims, who were travelling in the Perodua Axia, were found trapped inside the wrecked vehicle.
The operations commander PBK II (TBK I) Ribut Udin and his team used Road Traffic Accident (RTA) rescue tools to extricate the victims.
Medical personnel from the Ministry of Health (MOH) later confirmed that both victims had died at the scene due to their injuries. Their bodies were subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation and necessary action.
Meanwhile, the lorry driver escaped unhurt and was not trapped in his vehicle.
The operation concluded at 1.20pm after the scene was declared safe and under control. — DayakDaily
