Two flood relief centres opened in Sarawak

SIBU, Jan 26: Two flood relief centres (PPS) have been opened in Sarawak following the recent heavy rain.

They among the 20 that have been opened throughout the country — 10 in Sabah and 4 each in Johor and Pahang.


“Our side has supplied food aid and also stationed counselors to give counseling services to the flood victims.

Women, Family and Community Development Minister Dato Sri Nancy Shukri told reporters at the Bangkit@KPWKM Women’s Entrepreneurship Programme here today that her ministry is providing food and on-site counselling services to the flood victims.

She disclosed the National Disaster Management Agency is also providing tents and volunteers.

“All these parties will ensure that the flood victims are in a comfortable and safe condition and the PPS are in good orderly manner,” she added.

She urged flood victims to evacuate immediately and always follow the instructions of the authorities.

Meanwhile, the Santubong MP said the one-day enterpreneurship programme was being held for the first time in Sarawak.

She revealed the programme aims to empower women to generate income with small capital for e-commerce and small businesses not included under the scheme in the Ministry of Entrepreneurship, Tekun Nasional and Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM).

A total of 14,770 women have benefited from the programme so far.

Some 200 participants from the State constituencies of Nangka and Daro participated in the programme today. — DayakDaily
