Two arrested on suspicion of stealing aluminium from Metrocity construction site

KUCHING, July 14: Two men were caught by the police for alleged theft this morning.

The two men in their 20s and 30s are suspected to have stolen used aluminium from a construction site at Metrocity on July 9. The site supervisor who witnessed the incident immediately reported the case and police had collected sufficient information to arrest the two suspects.


According to Kuching District Police Chief ACP Awang Din Awang, a police team arrested the two suspects at Jalan Temenggong Tan Meng Chong this morning. A car used by the suspects was also confiscated by the police.

The two suspects tested positive for methamphetamine. Both have prior criminal records for drug offences. One of them also has a criminal record for break-ins.

Police later visited a premises which had bought the stolen aluminum from the two suspects. The premises’ owner and his worker were also brought to the police station for investigation.

Awang Din revealed that the two suspects will be remanded under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code while the case will be investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code. — DayakDaily
