MIRI, July 12: The erection of a traffic light in front of the South Lake junction will commence this month by the Public Works Department (JKR) Northern Zone Pan Borneo Highway team, says Minister of Transport Sarawak Datuk Sri Lee Kim Shin.

Lee, who was met this morning after carrying out a site inspection along the Permyjaya stretch up till the Taman Tunku junction disclosed that the team will also hold discussions with Naim Cendera and their respective consultants on the proposed access road adjacent to Vista Perdana.

“This access road would allow those coming from Vista Perdana to make a U-turn to go to Permyjaya and the Kuala Baram area,” he said.

Another traffic light has been proposed and approved to be installed in front of a junction at Eastwood Industrial area here.

“The construction will start once the traffic light at the South Lake junction is completed,” Lee said.

On his site visit today, Lee expressed satisfaction with the traffic flow along the Permyjaya up to Taman Tunku Junction.

“The completion of the Miri Airport flyover and Pujut Interchange Pan Borneo Project flyover have smoothened the traffic flow along the stretch, and we managed to reduce traffic congestion,” Lee told reporters. — DayakDaily
