KUCHING, Jan 25: Tourism, Arts, and Culture (Motac) Minister Dato Sri Tiong King Sing wishes Malaysian Hindus a happy Thaipusam, emphasising the importance of peace and holiness on this auspicious occasion.

Tiong noted that during Thaipusam, devotees express their faith through various rituals, such as carrying huge Kavadi in processions of repentance and piety or carrying offerings.

“The Hindu Subarman Temple in Batu Caves, Selangor remains one of Malaysia’s most significant and beautiful cultural tourism destinations, attracting large crowds.

“Undoubtedly Batu Caves as a tourist attraction carries a long history in our country.

“In addition to the huge tourist crowds during the Thaipusam Festival every year, the 272-step rainbow staircase (leading to Batu Caves Hindu temple) attracts many international tourists curious to explore it as a must-stop when they visit our country,” he said in a post on his official Facebook page today.

He went on to say that the tourists will visit one of the world’s most mysterious and beautiful caves, as well as participate in the country’s diverse religious and cultural customs.

“On today’s holy day, let us pray together for divine grace to bless Malaysia to overcome all challenges and obstacles without borders even as we remember to practise humility and repentance for past wrongdoings or flaws,” Tiong added. — DayakDaily
