Tourism, cultural activities prohibited in Covid-19 red and orange zones

KUCHING, April 26: All tourism and cultural activities are prohibited in Covid-19 red and orange zones in the whole of Sarawak.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in its latest Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) updated today, said only listed tourism and cultural activities are allowed to operate in Covid-19 yellow and green zones.

Tourism activities that are permitted in yellow and green zones include the operation of public attraction products such as zoos, farms, aquariums, edutainment centres, recreational parks, extreme parks, adventure parks and nature parks.


Arts, cultural and heritage activities such as the operation of museums, libraries, art galleries, art centers or villlages, cultural heritage and cultural performance stages are also allowed in Covid-19 yellow and green zones only.

Theme parks and family entertainment centres, however, are subjected to specific sets of SOPs issued by SDMC.

For premises that are allowed to operate, operators can only the fullest 50 per cent capacity or a maximum of 100 individuals in the premises at every time at one time.

As of today, districts under Covid-19 yellow and green zones are Lawas, Asajaya, Pusa, Dalat, Daro, Lubok Antu, Tanjung Manis, Tebedu, Limbang, Telang Usan and Simunjan. — DayakDaily
