KUCHING, July 23: Bintulu MP Dato Seri Tiong King Sing has urged Democratic Action Party (DAP) Bintulu publicity chief Chiew Chan Yew to list the latter’s contribution for schools and colleges including SMK Bintulu during Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) administration.

He said there were many projects including Jalan Medan Jaya flyover being canceled by PH but Chiew did not even utter a single word in protest of that decision.

“Often their senior politicians when visiting Bintulu do not make any visits to schools. But now they make a show about being ‘extremely confused’ about SMK Bintulu, ever though there are obviously many other schools,” Tiong said in a Facebook post recently.

He also questioned whether Chiew’s appearance this time was to put himself in the limelight for the coming elections.

“If Chiew is so obsessed with allocations, why doesn’t he mention the DAP MPs who had received funding after the signing of the Confidence and Supply Agreement in September last year. Surely they must have funding for schools in their constituencies,” he added.

Tiong further mentioned that the funding for large-scale software and hardware required by schools is under the purview of the Ministry of Education.

Tiong who is also Dudong assemblyman also advised Chiew to stop trying to “make something out of nothing” for his own political agenda.

“Before you judge others, try to examine your own contributions first. Serve the people and earn their sincere support first.

“Have you tried to find out exactly how much allocations we have channeled to Bintulu schools over the years? Perhaps he is too busy sitting in an air-conditioned room to think of ways to attack others and make a fool out of himself.

“My style is to face the facts square on and never run from problems. I will do my best to provide the best assistance to those in need,” he emphasised. ā€” DayakDaily
