SIBU, June 17: A manager of a timber company was slapped with a RM10,000 compound for violating the Movement Control Order (MC) by allowing 65 per cent of his staff to work at the company’s offices yesterday.
Sibu district police chief, ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said a police standard operating procedure (SOP) monitoring team led by Sibu Crime Prevention and Community Safety Division head DSP Ariffin Bahar had conducted a raid on the office at Jalan Keranji at 10.30am.
“During a headcount, it was found that there were 23 of its total 35 staff in the office at the same time. This is against the permitted 30 per cent capacity during this MCO,” he said.
ACP Stanley added that the team had explained the regulation to the 51-year-old manager of the company.
The compound was issued under Regulation 17 (2) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases (Measures Within the Infected Local Areas) Regulations 2021. — DayakDaily
