Thunderstorm warning extended for central, northern Sarawak, notice valid until 6pm (April 1)

KUCHING, April 1: Thunderstorm warnings for northern and central Sarawak have been extended by Malaysia Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia), with the notice now valid until 6pm.

According to the advisory notice issued at 3.35pm today, Kapit (Belaga), Bintulu (Bintulu and Sebauh), Miri (Subis, Beluru and Telang Usan) and Limbang are expected to be affected by rainy weather.


Based on the Facebook post, the warning is only issued when there are signs of thunderstorms with rain intensity exceeding 20mm an hour or with downpour that is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a maximum of six hours for every release.
