Three youths could face death penalty for drug offences

KUCHING, June 22: Three youths could face the death penalty after 55 grammes of amphetamine and methamphetamine were found inside their living quarters at Taman Sri Cahaya, Batu Kawah, Tondong.

A Padawan Police Station Narcotics Department team made the discovery during a raid at 5.30pm yesterday.


According to a police statement, the three suspects were found sitting on the floor during the raid and were believed to be in the midst of getting high. Police searched the suspects and recovered a blue coloured metal box which was found on the floor the suspects were sitting on.

A total of four medium-sized transparent plastic bags and 11 blue coloured plastic bags with crystal-like substances believed to be methamphetamine were found in the metal box.

The three suspects ranging in age from 18 to 23 were arrested and will be investigated under Section 39(b) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1962. — DayakDaily
