Thieves make off with RM2,500 in fish from Bekenu agricutural station

MIRI, Jan 30: More than a dozen fish worth RM2,500 were stolen from three ponds at an agricultural station in Kabuloh, Bekenu.

The discovery was made on Wednesday morning (Jan 29) by one of the station’s staff who later lodged a police report.


Miri deputy police chief Supt Mohd Sabri Zainol when met today confirmed receiving the report.

“Preliminary investigations showed that the incident took placed during Chinese New Year eve (Jan 24),” said Supt Sabri.

He added, the culprits had sneaked into the facility when most of the staff were not around for the Chinese New Year holiday.

Amongst the stolen fish were Jelawat, Lampam Jawa, Tapah, Merigul and Black Tilapia.

The case is being investigated under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft. — DayakDaily
