The victim's father seen together with the firefighters during the SAR operation.

PUSA, Jan 30: The Search And Rescue (SAR) operation for the missing 16-year-old race boat paddler was postponed at 5 pm today due to bad weather conditions.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operation centre in a statement said that firefighters from Bomba Betong utilised a “water surface search” method to search for the victim within a 1 kilometer radius from the last location he was seen.

“But due to the bad weather and limited visibility, the operation was suspended and will continue tomorrow,” the statement said.

The victim, from Kampung Tengah Darat in Beladin, Pusa, together with 18 others were undergoing race-boat paddling training in Sungai Beladin before losing control of the boat and capsized.

Fourteen others managed to swim to safety and three others were given medical treatment at the Beladin health clinic before being brought to Sarikei Hospital, while the victim is yet to be found. —DayakDaily
