Terrible traffic jam: Tan asks Yong for Jalan Tun Razak road works schedule

KUCHING, Dec 13: Political secretary to the Chief Minister Tan Kai is asking Pending assemblywoman Violet Yong to give an update on the latest completion date of the road upgrading works on Jalan Tun Razak intersection.

Tan complained that the road works have caused major traffic problems along Jalan Tun Razak intersection up to Simpang Tiga roundabout with jam sometimes stretching three kilometres.

“Look at the traffic jam at Jalan Tun Razak, (this is) how severe it is.

“The road works at the traffic light junction by Pakatan Harapan (PH) federal government have caused severe delays to motorists and the jam can be more than 3km from the intersection up to Simpang Tiga,” he said in a press statement today.

Tan, who visited the area today and witnessed vehicles snaking back for several kilometres, thus questioned Yong on the new completion date of the project as festive seasons of Christmas and Chinese New Year are approaching.

“The original completion deadline as announced by YB Violet Yong is middle of November 2019. It is delayed apparently as now is mid December. So what is the next completion date?

“As a responsible people’s representative, YB Violet Yong should tell the public the new completion date,” he urged.

With festive seasons around the corner and schools reopening after the break, Tan added that further delay in the completion of the road works will spoil the festive celebration mood.— DayakDaily
