KUCHING, Aug 3: A roadside fire along Jalan Tun Razak, beside Chung Hua Middle School No. 3 (CHMS3), was swiftly brought under control after firefighters from Padungan Fire and Rescue Station (Bomba) responded within minutes today.
The fire was spotted at about 1.45pm, prompting an immediate alert to Bomba.
Padungan Bomba firefighters arrived at the scene within five minutes using motorcycles to assess the situation and begin containment efforts, before a fire engine arrived shortly afterwards to support the operation.
Kuching South City Council (MBKS) Mayor Dato Wee Hong Seng, accompanied by councillors Cr Eric Tay and Cr Albert Tay, also arrived at the scene to monitor the situation and receive updates on the firefighting efforts.
As a gesture of appreciation, Wee handed cold drinks to Bomba personnel who were carrying out their duties under the hot weather.
The fire was brought under control promptly, although smoke remained visible as firefighters continued efforts to ensure the area was fully safe.
Wee expressed his appreciation to the Padungan Bomba team for their swift response, professionalism and dedication, noting that their prompt action helped prevent the fire from spreading and safeguarded the surrounding area. — DayakDaily
