KUCHING, Jan 17: Regent of Pahang, Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Ibni Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, had a rare opportunity to observe three orangutans—Seduku, Sem, and Edwin—during his visit to Semenggoh Wildlife Centre this morning.
His arrival at approximately 9.30am was greeted by Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration, and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh, along with the centre’s staff, according to news reports by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas).
Notable attendees also included Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Deputy Minister of Transport Datuk Dr Jerip Susil, and other distinguished guests.
During his visit to the centre, Tengku Hassanal received a briefing from Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) CEO Abang Arabi Abang Aimran and Forest Department Sarawak director Datu Hamden Mohammad regarding the operations of Semenggoh Wildlife Centre and the designated forest reserves in Sarawak.
In the afternoon, the Crown Prince proceeded to Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (SBC), accompanied by Dr Abdul Rahman and Dr Jerip.
There, he gained insights into SBC’s operations, which included algae cultivation, research facilities, SBC’s product offerings, and a tour of the exhibitions in the SBC foyer.
Tengku Hassanal is in Kuching for a five-day official visit from Jan 15 to 19. — DayakDaily
