KUCHING, Jan 16: Regent of Pahang Tengku Mahkota Tengku Hassanal Ibrahim Alam Shah Ibni Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah today visited the Borneo Cultures Museum, the second largest museum in Southeast Asia.

Upon his arrival at 1.10pm, he was welcomed by Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED) Dato Gerald Rentap Jabu.


Also accompanying His Royal Highness was Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunication Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.

Many members of the public had flocked to the museum to obtain a photo opportunity with the prince.

Tengku Hassanal was very gracious to entertain as many photo requests as possible throughout his visit.

Tengku Hassanal is in Kuching for a five-day official visit from Jan 15 to 19.

Earlier today, Tengku Hassanal visited Petroleum Sarawak Berhad’s (Petros) office at ICOM Square and Menara Sarawak Energy Berhad (Sarawak Energy) at Jalan Isthimus Kuching.

In the evening, he is scheduled to attend a State banquet, which will also be attended by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.

Tengku Hassanal had won the hearts of many Sarawakians during the Kembara Kenali Borneo royal tour in September 2023.

Among viral moments captured on video was him conversing with the local folk, stating that Pahang and Sarawak are cousins.

“Awak nak saya pindah ke Sarawak ke tak? Kita duduk sama-sama nanti. Okay? Pahang dan Sarawak cousin, cousin, cousin. (Do you want me to move to Sarawak? We can live together. Okay? Pahang and Sarawak are cousins),” he said in one of the viral videos taken during the royal tour and widely shared on social media. — DayakDaily
