KUCHING, Dec 14: A 19-year-old teenager who attempted to evade the police after he was caught engaging in intimate activities with his female acquaintance in a car has pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court here today.

The youth admitted to the charge under Section 186 of the Penal Code before Magistrate Zubaidah Sharkawi.

According to the charge, the accused committed the offense along Jalan Samariang at approximately 2.30pm on December 7.

However, Zubaidah allowed the accused to be released on bail of RM1,000 with his mother as a surety, pending a social report scheduled for January 23, 2024.

According to the case details, a police team on special patrol duty, known as Ops Lejang Khas (Harassment), discovered a car with its engine running in the parking lot of a stadium during their rounds.

As the complainant approached the vehicle to identify themself as a police officer, the accused was observed engaging in intimate activities with a woman in a partially undressed state.

Fearful, the accused then jumped into the driver’s seat, accelerated his vehicle, and nearly collided with another police officer.

Moreover, during the pursuit, the accused hit another car before he was finally being apprehended at the Jalan Samariang roundabout.

An inspection of the vehicle and the accused’s person revealed no illicit items. Subsequently, the accused was taken to the police station for further action.

Investigations also revealed that the accused and his female aquaintance had only known each other for about a week through the Omi Chat application.
