SELANGAU, March 19: The Selangau health clinic is in need of X-ray equipment for tuberculosis (TB) screening, says Tamin assemblyman Christopher Gira Sambang.

Gira explained that TB screening for patients in the area could only be done at the Lanang health clinic in Sibu.

“Therefore, I request the Health Ministry to provide X-ray facilities at the Selangau health clinic.

“This is to make it easier for residents to save cost and time”, he said while officiating at the World Tuberculosis Day celebration at SJK(C) Tong Ah here.

Touching on the celebration organised by the Sibu Divisional Health Office with the theme ‘Yes, We Can End TB’, Gira said it is held every March to raise public awareness regarding TB.

“Tuberculosis can be prevented if there is awareness among the public early,” he added.

Also present was Sibu Divisional Health Officer Dr Teh Jo Hun.
