KUCHING, May 27: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) secretary-general Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi says the passing of Dato Sri Daniel Tajem is a loss to the state as well as to the Dayak community.

He told DayakDaily that Tajem as a Dayak leader, had contributed to the state and the political development of Sarawak, as well as to the Dayak community.

“We have lost someone who was a great leader.

“As a Dayak leader, he contributed in various ways. There was a time that he was in the opposition and there was also a time that he was in the state cabinet.

“When he was in the state cabinet, he contributed to the state and the Dayak community. When he was in the opposition, he contributed to the political development of Sarawak.”

Nanta said there was a big gap in terms of age between him and Tajem. They did meet a few times though personally, there was not as much personal interaction as he wished.

“But I have a lot of respect for him,” said Nanta, who is also Kapit MP.

Tajem passed away this morning at his residence at Jalan Urat Mata, Kuching, at the age of 82. — DayakDaily
