KUCHING, Jan 26: Sarawak’s property sector is expected to experience steady growth in 2025, supported by the rising demand for residential, commercial, and industrial properties as well as green and sustainable real estate, says Sarawak Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (SHEDA) advisor Dato Sim Kiang Chiok.
In a statement issued today, he said that with a steadily growing population, demand for affordable and mid-range housing is expected to rise.
This will be supported by government housing schemes and incentives for first-time homebuyers, particularly in urban areas like Kuching, Miri, Sibu, and Bintulu.
With the growing population, he said, also comes the growth of Sarawak’s digital economy and tourism sector, driving the demand for retail and office spaces in strategic locations near transportation hubs and tourist destinations that will likely attract investors and tenants.
“Investments in renewable energy and manufacturing will bolster Sarawak’s industrial property market. The development of industrial parks and logistics hubs, especially within the SCORE region, will fuel demand for warehouses, factories, and other industrial facilities.
“In addition, mixed-use developments combining residential, retail, and commercial spaces remain attractive to investors and consumers. These projects cater to the growing demand for convenience and integrated lifestyles,” he said.
He also added that there will be an increase in demand for green and sustainable real estate, which aligns with the Sarawak government’s efforts for a greener State.
“With increasing demand for environmentally friendly designs, developers in Sarawak are expected to focus on green and sustainable projects, meeting both market expectations and regulatory requirements,” he said. — DayakDaily
