PERTH, March 4: Sarawak Infectious Disease Centre (SIDC) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Murdoch University in Australia to solidify their partnership ahead of the completion and operation of SIDC’s facility by December 2025.
According to a press release, the MoU signing ceremony took place at the University in Perth, Australia, today.
It was reported that Sarawak Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD) Dato Sri Roland Sagah Wee Inn is leading a State delegation to Australia to foster strategic collaborations and explore innovative initiatives to enhance Sarawak’s research and educational landscape.
The delegation included Deputy Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee; MEITD permanent secretary Datu Azmi Bujang; Undersecretary of Innovation Dr Cheong Yaw Liang; Sarawak Research and Development Council (SRDC) general manager Dr Peter Morin Nissom; Sarawak Biodiversity Centre (SBC) chief executive officer (CEO) Dato Dr Charlie Yeo; SIDC CEO Dr Ivan Yap; and SIDC chief engineer Dr John Panil.
During the visit, the delegation engaged in discussions on academic partnerships, research collaborations, infectious disease detection, vaccine development and talent development initiatives.
The delegation also visited the Australia National Phenome Centre on the same day. — DayakDaily
