KUCHING, Aug 31: Air quality in Sarawak continues to deteriorate, with Sri Aman now recording a hazardous Air Pollutant Index (API) reading of 331, while Serian nears the 500 mark as of 10am today.
According to data from the Department of Environment’s Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS), Serian recorded an API reading of 475, alongside Samarahan at 333 and Kuching at 331.
Other areas in the State recorded very unhealthy readings, with Sarikei at 275, followed by Sibu (220) and Mukah (216).
Meanwhile, the following areas recorded unhealthy readings: Samalaju (180), Miri (171), ILP Miri (169), Kapit (164), and Limbang and Bintulu (161 each).
An API reading of 0 to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, and readings above 300 hazardous. — DayakDaily
