KUCHING, Jan 18: The Sarawak government has the right to review contracts given to implementing agencies involved in road projects to ensure appropriate work quality.

According to a news report from TV Sarawak (TVS), Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak director Datu Richard Tajan said although many projects have been successfully completed, there are still other projects that are not according to the set standard.

He explained when it involves contracts that have reached a period of three years, the Sarawak government has the right to ensure that new clauses can be included for the purpose of monitoring and evaluating the work efficiency of the implementing agencies.

He said this during the State Road Maintenance Gala Night yesterday (Jan 17) which was also attended by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.

He said the revision of contracts is also important to ensure that the responsibilities of the implementing partners are carried out at the desired level.

That, he added, is one of JKR Sarawak’s new methods to ensure the quality of roads in Sarawak is at the highest level. — DayakDaily
