SUPP Women chief calls for immediate investigation into MYAirline’s license, business practice

Kho Teck Wan

KUCHING, Oct 13: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Women chief Kho Teck Wan has called for an immediate investigation from the Federal Ministry of Transport (MOT) and Malaysia Aviation Commission (Mavcom) on MYAirline’s license and business practice.

In a statement today, Kho said transportation is a critical national infrastructure where a minor disruption can cause severe consequences.

“I received a few inquiries yesterday from affected passengers whose flights were cancelled by MYAirline. There are a group of students from Swinburne University Sarawak who are going to KL for their internship this Saturday.

“The students are scrambled to find an alternate flight to KL after MYAirline’s sudden announcement,” she said.

Kho said according to MYAirline’s press statement, affected passengers are responsible for looking for alternate flights on their own, with an email address provided for passengers to reach out to their customer service for assistance.

She also said that she had written to MYAirline yesterday to inquire about the refund process for the affected passengers but has yet to get a reply from MYAirline.

“Perhaps the flight cancellation and halt of services are inevitable due to the nature of MYAirline’s current condition; it is, however, highly irresponsible to leave customers unattended when an official communication channel was provided to the customers.

“I urge the management of MYAirline to respond to customer inquiries as soon as possible, either by replying to the email provided or through a press statement, especially on the plan and procedure of refund on the purchased tickets,” she added. — DayakDaily
