KUCHING, Oct 12: Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP) Stakan branch chairman Dato Sim Kiang Chiok has praised Kota Samarahan MP Datuk Rubiah Wang for her sincerity, people-centric leadership and ‘colour blind’ approach in taking care of the interests, welfare and wellbeing of her constituents.
Sim, who is also a member of the Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS), said Rubiah is not only actively fighting for the rights of Sarawakians in Parliament, but also focused when it comes to meeting the needs of Kota Samarahan.
“I have had the privilege to work with her on numerous occasions, especially within MPKS, and she has always been truthful to the people of Kota Samarahan. She is generous and colour blind in providing allocations to the community irrespective of race and religion.
“This includes in Stakan where she handed over significant grants for activities and temple repairs. The grant is outside the assistance the temple would be receiving from Unifor (Unit for Other Religions),” he said in attesting Rubiah’s leadership and performance in a statement today.
Rubiah, who was former Asajaya district officer, from Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) has served Kota Samarahan for two consecutive terms since 2013. The Kota Samarahan parliamentary seat was previous held by Tun Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud (1990-2008) and Dato Sri Sulaiman Abdul Rahman Taib (2008-2013).
Sim also heaped praise on Rubiah for being a focused-driven leader who always speaks specifically on the needs of her constituency, instead of participating in the polemics of Malayan politics.
Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), he added, will truly benefit from loyal and focused MPs who trusted in the leadership of Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.
With the 15th General Election looming following the announcement of Parliament dissolution, Sim urged Sarawakians to recognise Abang Johari’s leadership which has among others, resulted in stronger revenue for Sarawak especially through State Sales Tax (SST) on oil and gas and many victories in Parliament including recognition of Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and anti-hopping law.
“Now we must help to secure 31 parliamentary seats for GPS to give the Premier a louder and clearer voice in Putrajaya.
“With less than 20 MPs, he managed some wins but with 31 (MPs), Sarawak’s voice will be even firmer and our quests for education and health autonomy will be possible and in fact most probable,” he added. — DayakDaily
